Sexually transmitted diseases (also referred to venereal diseases) are infectious diseases that spread from person to person through intimate contact. There is no background or age of guys and girls who are not affected by STDs who are having sex, it doesn't matter if they're rich or poor.

Unfortunately, getting sexually trasmitted diseases is now a common teen-age occurence. As a direct consequence of teen-agers being at risk for getting and transmitting sexually transmitted diseases, it's important to learn what you can do to protect yourself.

It's important to understand that STDs are more then an inconvenience. They're a important health concern. If untreated, the marjority of STDs can lead to permanent health concerns, such as infertility (not being able to get pregnant) and even death (i.e HIV/AIDS).
