Sexually transmitted diseases (also referred to venereal diseases) are infectious diseases that get passed from sexual partner to sexual partner through sex. STDs affect all backgrounds and ages of girls and guys who are having sex, it has no regard for socio-economic status.

Unfortunately, getting sexually trasmitted diseases is now a common teen-age occurence. As a direct consequence of teen-agers being at risk for getting and transmitting sexually transmitted diseases, it's important to learn how to sufficiently protect yourself.

Being an embarrassment is the least of your concerns with STDs. They're a important health concern. If untreated, some STDs can cause permanent damage, such as infertility (the inability to have a baby) and even death (in the case of AIDS).
